Patient Care Options
ADJUSTMENT
The human spine consists of a complex arrangement of vertebrae, discs, joints, and muscle groups that allow the spine to turn, twist, and bend. It also hosts the spinal cord, with major nerves running through the vertebral spaces to serve the rest of the body. Unfortunately, many problems can affect this delicate combination of moving and non-moving parts. Even the smallest subluxation or joint dysfunction can limit joint motion, causing neck or back pain. Disc bulges or herniated discs can press against nerves, producing neurological discomfort or weakness in the extremities. An unbalanced spine may leave you with chronic aches and pains. Chiropractic spinal adjustments can relieve these problems. We use hands-on techniques or instrument-assisted techniques to accomplish this. We can ease pain, decrease neurological symptoms, reduce muscular tightness, and help your neck and back move freely. We provide spinal and extremity adjustments utilizing many chiropractic techniques such as Diversified, Thompson Drop Table, and Activator.
ULTRASOUND
Therapeutic ultrasound produces soundwaves at a frequency where the soundwaves may accelerate the healing process by increasing blood flow and relaxing the muscular tissue.
ELECTRICAL MUSCLE STIMULATION
Electrical muscle stimulation is a type of therapy modality used to accomplish various tasks. If you have an injury or condition that causes pain or limited functional mobility, electrical muscle stimulation may be one part of your treatment plan.
- TENS: used at home to manage acute and chronic pain.
- NMES: uses an electrical current to cause either a single muscle or group of muscles to contract. By placing electrodes on the skin in various locations the appropriate muscle fibers can be recruited. This is used to increase muscle function, and promote blood flow to the area to assist in healing. NMES can also be used to help decrease muscle spasms by tiring the muscle spasm, allowing them to relax.
- IFC: can also be used to decrease pain, decrease muscle spasms, and improve localized blood flow to the muscles or tissues. It is often used to decrease low back pain and muscular spasms.
KINESIOTAPING
Kinesiotaping is used to treat injuries and improve sports performance. While kinesiotaping is often associated with athletes, providers have been using it to alleviate a wide variety of ailments, not just sports injuries. The tape changes how your body interprets pain, delays muscle fatigue, normalizes muscle tone, and distributes physical stress. The brand we use is RockTape. The adhesive is hypo-allergenic, acrylic-based, contains no latex, and can be worn for up to 5 days. It can also be worn while swimming or in the shower.
SUPPLEMENTS/SUPPLIES
We provide specific recommendations on both nutritional supplements and supplies to enhance our patient's return to optimal health. We carry Metagenics, NutriDyn, and Standard Process for our nutritional supplements.
CUSTOM ORTHOTICS
Custom foot orthotics are individually designed for you based on a 3D scan. They help achieve a balanced foundation from the ground up and achieve a stabilized pelvis. Research has proven they provide pain relief, improve biomechanics, and help support your adjustments. Some issues they can help address but are not limited to are foot, knee, and lower back pain.
